What should I give?

St. Anne obviously needs your financial support for the ongoing operation of the parish including our monthly mortgage payment of over $40,000. It is also important for your spiritual growth to give of your money as well. Making a plan which includes giving to God first with some sacrifice out of gratitude for all that God has given deepens our faith.  Jesus teaches to give and expect nothing in return and that God will give more than we can imagine.

How much should you give?  Some may answer the question of what to give your church by considering a percentage of what you earn.  Tithing is a biblical concept that refers to giving a tithe or 10% back to God. We suggest 5% for your parish, 4% for the poor, and 1% for the diocese. It challenges us to live on 90% of what we earn. Tithing can help us look at our time as well as our money. 5% of a 40-hour workweek is two hours. Consider giving 5% of your income to St. Anne for its ongoing operations and the mortgage payment.

Some may find it helpful to look at some regular weekly or monthly expenses willhelp you place a value on the importance of God, your faith, and St. Anne and our ministries in your life.  What we spend our money on will normally show what is important to us.
