Human Concerns Ministries

Bereavement Ministry
Contacts parishioners who have experienced the death of a family member. Support is provided by telephone, cards, and/or appropriate materials. Plans the annual All Souls Celebration in November and the Mass of Remembrance during the Easter Season. Meets quarterly.

Career Coaching

Provides support, resources, contacts, and assistance to individuals going through career changes. Members include those who are seeking employment, small business owners growing their businesses, and individuals who want to give back to the parish community. Members listen to the needs and talents of attendees, and provide subject-matter experts' advice on topics like job search techniques, targeted resume writing, and packaging and presenting of oneself for an interview. This concept of helping others while being helped is summed up in a line from our Ministry Prayer, "...event with our own needs foremost in our minds, help us to listen to the needs of other members, so that we may truly live our Catholic belief of going forth and serving You, by serving the needs of others."

Christmas Ministry

Plans, coordinates, and evaluates a variety of opportunities to share Christmas with those in need, e.g. purchasing gifts or gift cards, wrapping, and delivering Christmas gifts; assisting with celebrations and/or programs at local facilities and agencies, e.g. Alterra Wynwood, Grand Prairie Rehab Center, Prairie Ridge Senior Campus, Urban Outreach Center. Meets two to three times a year. Youth and children welcomed accompanied by parent.

Communion to the Sick

Visits those who are sick or dying at home, Grande Prairie Rehab Center, Saint Catherine Medical Center, and/or Aurora Hospital.  Shares prayer and/or brings Communion to those who are unable to join the parish community for prayer.  Initial training and ongoing formation is provided and required.  Availability during daytime hours is helpful but not required.  Meets quarterly.Organizes, prepares, and serves a meal or hospitality at church following the funeral liturgy or burial. 

CUSH (Congregations United to Serve Humanity) 

CUSH is a multi-ethnic, multi-racial coalition of faith communities joined together to promote social justice and address community concerns. Educates, advocates for and empowers people, particularly low and moderate-income people. Promotes justice, equal access to resources, relief from poverty and promotes the general health and well being of the Kenosha/Pleasant Prairie communities through dialogue, education, and action. St. Anne provides financial support from our tithing fund. Involvement in CUSH Task Forces and other activities.  Meets quarterly for prayer, reflection, and planning.

Fair Trade Ministry

Promotes global solidarity through education, provides some fair trade items for purchase at church, e.g. coffee, chocolate, tea, and provides information on fair trade products and merchants. Groups are organized for education/advocacy and for selling products monthly and at an annual work of Human Hands Craft Fair in November.

Funeral Hospitality

Organizes, prepares, and serves a meal or hospitality at church following the funeral liturgy or burial.  

 Health Ministry

Provides for the physical, spiritual and emotional health and well being of parish members and their families. Sponsors blood pressure screening, blood drives, AED training, and promotes Advance Directives. Meets quarterly for prayer, reflection, and planning.

 INNS

Provides a warm, secure place to sleep for the homeless in our county. This is the Shalom Center’s Interfaith Network Nightly Shelter Program. It provides a temporary, emergency shelter and offers support during transition to permanent employment and/or housing. Shelters are located in seven local churches from October through April. Ministers give an average of four hours per month to provide the guests with a place to sleep, an evening snack, breakfast, and a sack lunch to take with them. Meets twice per year for planning, evaluation, and prayer. 

Katrina Ministry

Mission trips to Lizana, MS where we have assisted in helping to rebuild the community of St. Ann there. Trips have been scheduled once or twice a year since Hurricane Katrina. Trips are usually one week in length.
