SCRIP

SCRIP is our main fund raiser. It is a gift card/gift certificate program. St. Anne Church buys SCRIP cards from local merchants and a national organization that purchases large quantities of such cards from retailers, grocery chains, restaurants, home-improvement centers and department stores at a discounted value. Parishioners purchase the SCRIP gift card at the face value of the card. The difference between the face value of the card and the discounted cost of the card is the proceeds generated for the St. Anne parish.

This program provides parishioners an opportunity to channel payment for basic, everyday needs through SCRIP, and generate funds for the parish, without additional expense or extra financial contribution by the parishioner. By using SCRIP gift cards or gift certificates, parishioners support many merchants and our neighbors employed by participating local merchants, and the parish receives between 1% and 20% of the SCRIP certificate value.  

Every SCRIP purchase builds our parish and grows our community. SCRIP purchases are never too small to make a difference. The purchase of one particular $50 grocery card each week will yield $125 a year for the parish. Now, multiply that by 10, 20 or 100 parishioners, simply purchasing groceries every week.

There is no hidden cost to the parishioner. A check written to a retailer or grocery store can just as easily be written to St. Anne SCRIP. The same amounts of goods, food or services are obtained, but through SCRIP participation, some part of the transaction benefits the parish. Since its beginning in 2000, SCRIP has generated over $243,000 in proceeds to the parish.
